Hailed as the Kings of the Little Rock honky-tonk, The Salty Dogs have successfully mixed the familiar sounds of Bakersfield with a unique and original hip flavor. The quartet comprised of Brad Williams, Bart Angel, Mike Nelson, and Nick Devlin, began in January 2003 as a motive to enter the prestigious Arkansas Times Musician's Showcase. The band's first live performance was the 1st round of the competition. The band's combination of quality songs and performance, led them to sweep the showcase thus naming The Salty Dogs as the "Best Original Band in Arkansas." Just following the showcase, The Salty Dogs completed a 7 song live EP titled, The King of Broken Hearts. After a performance at Little Rock's Riverfest music festival, The Salty Dogs have also shared the stage with the likes of guit-steel playing Junior Brown, Moot Davis, Hank Williams Jr., Pete Anderson, The Gourds, Old Crow Medicine Show, David Rawlings and The Legendary Shack Shakers.
